San Diego - Gaslamp Quarter
Comic Con is held at the San Diego Convention Center. Walk across Harbor Drive from the convention center and up fifth street and you enter the Historic Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. I had dinner at Comic Con with a few friends in the Gaslamp Quarter several times during Comic Con. On Thursday as we were heading out to dinner I snapped a few pictures.

Comic Con - Advertising
Advertising is a big part of Comic Con. During the week of Comic Con you can not go anywhere around San Diego without seeing ads for movies and tv shows all over the place. They were on buses, vans, banners, etc. As a long time fan of Stargate SG1 I was surprised to see all money spent on advertising for the Stargate franchise at Comic Con this year. Fans have been complaining for the last few years about how little advertising we have seen of Stargate by SciFi compared to other shows on the channel such as Battlestar Galactica. However this year at Comic Con MGM put a lot of money into advertising the Stargate franchise with signs on buses for both SG1 movies (The Ark of Truth & Continuum), SG1 complete Season 10 box set on DVD, and Atlantis Season 4. Most of the concession stands at the convention center sold water in Stargate Atlantis water bottles. In fact it was funny at the Atlantis panel on Friday when Amanda Tapping went to take a drink of water, all the actors had had a bottle of water placed on the stage for them before the pane began, and she noticed the label and turned to David Helwett who was sitting next to her and said our faces are on the bottles.
The other big thing at Comic Con is that all the network and studio booths give out buttons, posters or postcards advertising current shows/movies or upcoming ones. For Stargate this year you could go by the MGM booth and pick up Stargate pins with SG1, Atlantis, Ark of Truth, and Contiuum plus they gave out SGA, Ark of Truth, and A Dog's Breakfast (David Hewletts new movie) posters. The SciFi channel booth handed out Stargate Altantis buttons with Shepperd, McKay and Carter on them over the weekend along with buttons for Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, Painkiller Jane, and Flash Gordon.
Here are some pictures of a few of the buses and vans around town.

Comic Con - Stargate Atlantis Panel
You can see the Stargate Atlantis panel on SciFi's web site - so go to http://www.scifi.com/comiccon/video/index.php?vid=135215 to view the panel minus the video trailer of season 4 that started the panel. Here are a few pictures from the panel.

Comic Con 2007 - Stargate SG1
The first panel of the day on Friday in room 20 was the Stargate SG1 "Ark of Truth" panel. People started lining up at 8:00 am for a panel that did not start until 12:15 pm. Room 20 holds a little over 6,000 people, although the room did not fill completly it came very close to being completly filled by the time the panel started. MGM provided some very cool give aways to folks asking questions during todays panel including a signed script to the S10 episode "200" and S10 DVD sets. The panel started with a video highlight of 10 years of Stargate SG1 and a preview of the SG1 movie "The Ark of Truth".
The panel was monitored by Gary Jones.
